CALEV is a remarkable alternative poprock project pioneered by award-winning SA Producer/Songwriter, Helmut Meijer. Their debut album, Break The Silence, took the industry by storm and reached nr.1 status on the SA iTunes Alternative charts upon the first day of its release. Break The Silence also enjoys significant airplay on various radio stations.
The eclectic sound of CALEV reminds the listener of icons such as Coldplay, Peter Gabriel and Sting amongst others. CALEV is a diverse and adaptable outfit ranging from full band with members Helmut Meijer (piano, vocals), Sven Blumer (guitar), Lukas de Beer (bass) and Iwan Kemp (drums) to more intimate acoustic sets with adjustable instrumental combinations.
