About

Kirstin is a much-loved and high in demand saxophonist that is known for her soulful melodies, passionate performances and professionalism. She has been operating in the music industry since 2013 and established her career in Gauteng. However, in 2023 she relocated to Cape Town and has been making a mark in the local music circuit ever since.

Her journey into music started at the the age of 12 when she set out into the world of classical music by taking up the piano and clarinet, although she always had a natural inclination towards the saxophone. After much consideration she decided to pursue her love for the instrument and began her studies at the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) in 2018, graduating with an Honours in Music (BMus).

What makes Kirstin such a sought-after performer is her natural ability to be able to perform a vast expanse of different genres and styles as well as her adaptability to play in different band and ensemble settings. This skill was honed by performing with the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra, Johannesburg Symphonic Wind Band, various DJs, a pop group called “Cazz”, jazz ensembles and touring South Africa for 6 years with the indie-folk group called “Jerry & The Bandits”.

Since 2019 Kirstin has performed as a solo saxophone act (with accompanying backing tracks) at various weddings, private events, birthdays and corporate shows. Some solo performance career highlights include playing at the re-opening event of Sun City (post covid), Desmond and Leah Tutu Foundation event, various Standard Bank & FNB events, MTN women’s month celebration, Liberty Life and RMB’s year-end functions, launch of a new Telkom store, Cape Town’s Dermatology Congress, Microsoft team building event and an exclusive champagne tasting for Moët Chandon to name but a few.

Clients adore Kirstin as she can curate her sets specifically around music requests as her repertoire covers more than 3 hours of music. Her expansive list of songs include classic sax standards like “Careless Whisper”, background lounge music like “Café Del Mar”, jazz standards like “Summertime”, South African hits like “Special Star”, tropical house music and the latest radio hits.
